What is airsoft and why would I want to try it? What is the point of airsoft?
Airsoft is a sport in which participants eliminate opponents by hitting each other with spherical, 6mm plastic pellets (bb’s) that are launched via replicas called airsoft guns. Airsoft is commonly compared to paintball with some key differences including the following:
Game play varies in style and composition involving short-term skirmishes, organized scenarios, C.Q.B. (Close Quarters Battle), outdoors, military simulations (MilSim) or historical reenactments. They are played in some indoor courses and outdoor fields. Combat situations on the battlefield may involve the use of military tactics to achieve objectives set in each game. Participants may attempt to emulate the tactical equipment and accessories used by modern military and police organizations. A game is normally kept safe by a trained professional and the weapons are usually powered by gas or various types of batteries. A gun’s power is checked through a chronograph and is usually measured in feet per second (FPS). Different game sites can allow a different amount of FPS.
Come on down and check out what airsoft is all about at The BG! Airsoft is a lot like paintball and better in many ways. No mess, a lot less pain, and we are able to detail out the arenas with more props to give you that realistic feel.
Airsoft at The BG is a fun, social experience. It isn’t just about the concept of “shooting” each other. It is more like a game of tag with plastic bb’s and a bunch of friends or people you don’t even know. Airsoft is a great game to get kids and even yourself off of the couch. We aren’t about who has the coolest gear or the best gun. Our customers have the freedom to dress up like a Navy Seal or simply show up in a pair of jeans and a hoodie. We have people that dress up like Bananas, Moose, and even movie characters. We love it when people just let loose and have fun. We treat everyone the same regardless of what you do or do not have. We separate open-play groups by play style and experience to create the best atmosphere to play in. We work on a multiple group process that allows for ALL types of players from the casual player, dad and son (or mom and daughter) to players that have all of the bells and whistles. One thing that separates us from most other airsoft arenas is our “bang bang” rule. This is a “courtesy” at many other places, but it is a rule at The BG. You are not allowed to shoot within 7′ of each other. Technically, the velocity of the BB is not much less at that distance, but mentally it allows for a comfort zone. We have found it to be a great way to give new players a way to try airsoft without overwhelming them. It allows kids, moms, dads, and friends to have a good time without the concern of walking into a war zone. We have introduced our type of airsoft to over 20,000 players since we opened in 2014 and have a great percentage of repeat customers.
The Town’s design is very unique for the Airsoft Industry. Many Airsoft fields are simply plywood mazes or structures with a military theme, but the owner decided to take a completely different approach. He wanted to design a field that was both challenging and realistic while also utilizing the building’s square footage to its maximum potential. With that in mind, a post-invasion neighborhood theme was developed, including a police station, bank, grocery store, tire shop, sub shop, junk yard, town homes, and even carnival concession stands. Painted roads, real used vehicles, and other real life accessories complete the theme. Repurposed materials and items were used wherever possible to bring the very realistic post-invasion “battleground” look to life.
The Warehouse takes a different approach to bring players exciting indoor airsoft gameplay. This field features a warehouse theme with stacked pallets, barrels, buckets, and 2 bridges that players can both walk on and shoot from. The Warehouse is the newest field at The Battlegrounds and changes are constantly taking place for both fields through player feedback and general updates.
This group is for ANY player who has played less than a half a dozen times. This is your casual player who just enjoys the game and is not overly competitive. This group is PERFECT for the new player, family time, work parties/team building, and even the nervous player. Everyone can excel in this group! This level is the true sense of the word “Beginner”
This group features players who have been to our facility several times and/or other airsoft fields. They understand our rules and why they are in place for safety and enjoyment of ALL customers. They also understand this group will play at a slightly more intense/skillful level. ALL standard Battlegrounds rules apply. NO EXCEPTIONS! The Intermediate group is great for the casual player who wants to simply enjoy the game for what it is again. You may have to play down to some players, but it is a great way to practice your skills while not having the intensity of the Experienced group. You may have to push/challenge yourself if you are relatively new to the game, but want to try to step it up! Mentoring is always encouraged if done properly.
